The stainless steel safety switches from IDEM Safety Switches

IDEM Safety Switches' stainless steel safety switches

Whoever says food industry says food safety. But safe operation of machines and production lines is at least as important in our sector. At IDEM Safety Switches, distributed in the Benelux by Teleson B.V. of Utrecht, both go hand in hand. This English manufacturer has the widest range of stainless steel safety switches that meet the strictest hygiene requirements.

IDEM Safety Switches was founded in 2003 by Medi Mohtasham, former head of R&D and Development at EJA/Guardmaster. During his 18 years as technical director at EJA/Guardmaster and later at Rockwell Automation, he designed and developed the popular Guardmaster products. But when production was transferred to the Dominican Republic, he decided to start from scratch again. A new brand, but one that boasted a team with more than 200 years of experience. Together, they set to work to create the next generation of machine locks: with higher reliability, more features and more attention to durability.

Focus on technology

The beginning of a steep growth curve. Thanks to a global network of suppliers like Teleson, IDEM's products are available anywhere on the planet, whenever and wherever you need them. Stainless steel safety switches, because that's where IDEM's focus lies, have become the new industry standard. No manufacturer, even the big boys, can offer as wide a range of safety switches in stainless steel. And yet IDEM remains true to its philosophy of the early days. No immense marketing budgets to conquer market share, no, the focus is still on R&D. Customers with technical issues always find a hearing at the manufacturer that has its cradle in Wigan (near Manchester). Innovation is still in the DNA.

IP69K sealing and hygienic designs

Although they serve many sectors, the food industry received full attention within IDEM from the start. For example, most of IDEM's stainless steel 316 products meet IP69K sealing. Thus, thanks to their sealing, they can be used in areas subject to the most intensive cleaning procedures. In addition, part of the range was developed for use in zones where contacts with foodstuffs are possible. In other words, where hygiene is most critical. The smooth housing, rounded corners, bleed ... all from the idea of building a safety switch where bacteria and other contaminations have no chance.
