Consequently, it had to be a Ucrete floor. Not only because of the great ease of use and hygiene it brings, but also because it looks so good. "It really blends in seamlessly with the rest of the building," he says.
Schot's fish trade began as a peddling trade in the region around Roosendaal. Rini Schot: "Back in the 1960s, my father Jaap crossed the border to Belgium to sell fish here as well. Back then, crossing the border was quite a hassle, so he decided to settle on this side of the border. He found a shed in Essen in the early 1970s where he could prepare his fish and we were off." After all, as a little boy, Scot already knows. He wants to follow in his father's footsteps. Today, Schot's fish market vans travel out from Essen to just below Brussels and all the way to Turnhout. 42 places in all. "In the morning mostly to markets, in the afternoon you'll find us back at fixed stands," he says.

The preparation that is for overnight and is done from new premises in Essen. About 2,500 kg of fish are processed every week. "After a fire reduced our previous location to ashes, we decided to put up a completely new company building. The floor must have been just about the most important element in that," says Schot. "We wanted a hard-wearing floor, with good drainage that also looked nice and flowed seamlessly from one space to another. Our architect (GDesign) and flooring contractor (Benvitec) immediately knew where to turn: to Master Builders Solutions for a Ucrete floor. We chose a Ucrete CS10 in light gray color that perfectly matched the rest of the building."
Crucial in the execution of the floor, which covers about 400 m², was the drainage. That's where things dared to falter in the previous building. Schot: "But this floor is really very maintenance-friendly. The drainage works perfectly. You spray off the coarse dirt, everything runs seamlessly to the drains. Then you just scrub over it with the scrubber and it is ready for use again. All very easy. The floor is also liquid-proof, so no bacteria can form. What we also greatly appreciate is its slip resistance. The floor actually never gets really slippery. Important in our industry."
