The group announces a 22 million euro investment plan. On the plan: a new slaughterhouse, an expansion of fruit juice production and the modernization of the foie gras production site.
Upignac Group is active in 4 fields: the production of foie gras (Upignac), natural fruit juices (Jus d'Upigny), free-range chickens (Ardenne Volaille) and finally the direct sale of local products on the farm under the name la Table d'Upignac. In 2015, the group had a turnover of 11 million euros and employed 40 people. Today, the group has a turnover of 48 million euros and employs 180 people. "The company is in full growth and fortunately weathered the corona crisis," says CEO Michel Petit.
The company is now providing 22 million euros for a three-year investment plan, which began last year. "The plan covers all our activities," the CEO continued. The biggest bite of the budget, at 16 million euros, will go to the construction of a new slaughterhouse for Ardenne Volaille.
"The application for the building permit has been submitted. With the new slaughterhouse, we are increasing capacity from processing 50,000 chickens a week to 150,000. The second largest investment, some 3 million euros, will go to the expansion of Jus d'Upigny," said Michel Petit.
Upignac Group initially began producing foie gras. That production site was already upgraded last year through the modernization of its production lines. Order picking is now also done by robots. Fevia recently received a guided tour from Youri Charlier, quality manager at Upignac.
And finally, the farm, where she organizes her annual Christmas market under the title Table d'Upignac, becomes a permanent, commercial fixture in her activities.
