Applications in the meat industry must meet particularly high hygiene requirements. NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is presenting its comprehensive drive program for the industry at the IFFA trade fair in Frankfurt from May 14 to 19, 2022. Among the highlights at the fair are the patented splash-proof DuoDrive gearmotor, the high-quality surface treatment nsd tupH and the SAFOMI-IEC adapter, a technical innovation for mixing and stirring processes.

IFFA is the international trade fair for the processing, packaging and sale of meat and alternative proteins. At the Frankfurt fair, visitors can witness live how drive specialist NORD DRIVESYSTEMS supports the meat industry with efficient, hygienic and reliable solutions.

nsd tupH surface treatment: an economical alternative to stainless steel

For the industry's main ambition - to meet the highest hygiene requirements - NORD developed the surface treatment nsd tupH, which makes aluminum almost as corrosion-resistant as stainless steel. Surfaces treated with nsd tupH are corrosion-resistant, resistant to acids and alkalis, and can even withstand cleaning processes with high-pressure cleaners and aggressive media. Most importantly, this is not a coating, but a surface treatment that creates a protective layer that permanently adheres to the substrate material. Thus, nothing can come off or peel off. The nsd tupH version is available for most aluminum products in the NORD modular drive system and is therefore ideally suited for hygiene-sensitive applications in the food industry.

SAFOMI-IEC adapter for MAXXDRIVE® industrial gear units from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS in combination with a drive motor: fewer components, higher operational reliability.

The new DuoDrive: gearbox and motor combined

The DuoDrive can also be supplied with the surface treatment. The innovative and patented motor gearbox in hygienic splash-proof design integrates a highly efficient IE5+ synchronous motor in a single-stage parallel shaft gearbox. This ensures not only compact size and minimal noise emissions, but also high power density and system efficiency. Together with easy plug-and-play commissioning, the complete DuoDrive solution significantly reduces the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to other drive systems.

SAFOMI-IEC adapter for agitators.

The SAFOMI-IEC adapter was specially developed by NORD for agitators. Applied in an agitator drive instead of a standard IEC adapter, it results in higher operational reliability and less maintenance. The main advantage, however, is the integrated oil expansion chamber that eliminates the need for oil tanks and pipes, as well as the radial shaft seal between gearbox and IEC cylinder that is sensitive to leakage and wear. SAFOMI is available for MAXXDRIVE® parallel gear units in sizes 7 to 11 and includes maximum output torques of 25 to 75 kNm. For mixing and stirring applications, the compact combination of a MAXXDRIVE® industrial gearbox, the SAFOMI IEC adapter and a drive motor is the best choice for reducing the replacement of wear parts and attached components.
