New Sinamics G115D decentralized drive system specially designed for conveyor belt applications

With the Sinamics G115D, Siemens presents a new, compact and powerful drive system designed specifically for horizontal conveyor applications. The drive system includes a motor, frequency converter and drive in one unit and is offered in two versions: wall-mounted and motor-mounted. The Sinamics G115D drive system is characterized by a robust design with a high IP protection class (up to IP66) and is therefore also suitable for use in extreme environments. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the Sinamics G115D can be easily installed even in confined spaces. The drive system can also be reliably operated within a wide temperature range ranging from -30 to 55 degrees Celsius. Suitable for applications in intralogistics and airports, as well as in the automotive and food and beverage industries, the Sinamics G115D drive system is available in a power range ranging from 0.37 to 7.5 kilowatts for wall mounting and 0.37 to 4 kilowatts for motor mounting. The drive system can be commissioned quickly and easily thanks to total integration into the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) portal including Startdrive software for commissioning, or the Sinamics G120 Smart Access Module (SAM) Web server tool for installation and diagnostics. To be prepared for digital transformation and to enable analytics in the cloud, the Sinamics G115D is integrated into the full MindConnect portfolio and compatible with Mindsphere applications such as Analyze MyDrives.

Thanks to Profisafe, STO (Safe Torque Off) SIL 2 is integrated into Sinamics G115D, which standardizes and simplifies the process to certification. For flexibility in terms of installation, service and maintenance, the solution is equipped with a plug-in connector and flexible connection options. The system is especially suitable for interaction with Simatic controllers such as the Simatic S7-1200, S7-1500 or Simatic ET200 for motion control. Siemens offers Service Protect for the Sinamics G115D. As part of this service package, an additional one- or two-year extension can be purchased to cover any defect. The package offers simplified handling under normal warranty conditions during the period of the extension.
