Security tasks, such as ensuring access restriction, safely locking and starting plants and selecting the operating mode, play an important role in modern plants. These tasks are often complex, but solving them can be simple. Thus Euchner has launched a new secure key system on the market: the CKS2.
Safety for people, machines and products is the motto of family-run Euchner, which with Stefan Euchner is now in its third generation. As specialists in industrial safety technology, the company develops and manufactures products and solutions tailored to the requirements of customers from a wide range of sectors. Safety is also crucial in the food industry. Safety technology is there not only to protect people and machines, but also to improve production processes. The product groups Automation, Safety and ManMachine are increasingly flowing into each other in modern installations while the tasks are often becoming more complex. In order to continue to ensure safety, Euchner has launched a new key system on the market with the CKS2.

The CKS2 from Euchner is a new, secure key system that can be easily integrated into the overall control system and used for a wide variety of applications. The CKS2 is also available as a submodule for the MGB2 Modular. As a result, many new applications for this door locking system can be realized.
Dangerous machine movements often need to be started or stopped safely, independent of existing safeguards. As a lockout system, authorization system or trapped key system, the CKS2 is suitable. Integrated evaluation electronics in the key adapter station ensure a compact system. In the process, it guarantees maximum security for users through the use of highly encrypted RFID keys.
The new FlexFunction feature is the key to this versatility. Its use is very simple. Users define the application for the system when they first set it up. They then choose the appropriate RFID key to activate exactly those device functions they need. Parameter assignment takes place when the key is first learned. The key adapter then only has to perform one security function: securely detecting the key. Once the key is recognized as valid, the security outputs are enabled. One key can also be assigned to several key adapters of different installations.

A connection to IO-Link is also possible with the appropriate Euchner gateway. This can provide extensive diagnostic and communication functions. Think of identifying the key with which the installation was operated. With these versatile application possibilities, the CKS2 FlexFunction device also offers additional advantages in the warehouse and procurement area.
In the MSM-CKS2 submodule version, the key system can also be seamlessly integrated into the MGB2 Modular. This opens up even more application possibilities for Euchner's door locking system. New solutions are offered, for example, for fully automated logistics systems or complete turnkey installations. The combination ensures the efficiency of processes, creates flexibility in access rights, increases the security of personnel and processes and creates transparency and traceability.
By adding additional safety modules to the MGB2, machine builders can add numerous functions, including safety interlock, escape release, start/stop, emergency stop, and so on. The modular design also means that the MGB2 can eliminate the additional need for a separate control panel.
In the MGB2 environment, the submodule is interfaced via PROFINET/PROFIsafe or EtherCAT/FSoE. No complicated configuration or complex key management. The electronic operating principle allows users to dispense with key exchange boxes and key distribution stations. Applications are defined directly in the control system for unlimited flexibility.
