For Tensio, manufacturer of cleaning and disinfection agents for the food industry, their mission is to make their customers' lives easier. They supply products, initiate cleaning processes and offer technical solutions. "We are tremendously service-driven," says Karl Lampaert, owner of Tensio. "Using Power BI frees up extra time that we can spend on our customers."
Key insights
Tensio has been actively using Power BI for about two years, Karl says. "We started with Microsoft Sharepoint, which we also use to communicate with our customers, and then we also implemented Power BI. From our ERP system, we could not get nice overviews of our customers, products, schedules, etc. While we preferred to see visually easily interpretable data, such as graphs. ESC then guided us to implement the entire ERP package and Dynamics 365 Sales linking to Power BI. We ourselves know which data tables we need from our ERP package, and we actively placed and linked these tables together with ESC. As a result, we can now build dashboards ourselves. For more complex dashboards or linking of new data, we call on ESC again.

Save time
All employees at Tensio have a Power BI license, and in addition to useful insights, using Power BI also saves a remarkable amount of time. In the finance department, for example, employees can see at a glance which invoices have been outstanding for too long. They thus have an overview of defaulters and can respond quickly.
Closely monitoring their Ebita is also proving its worth. "We keep a close eye on everything and draw conclusions based on our P&L. With raw material prices soaring these days, it is important to be aware of this on a daily basis. Our Ebita should not be pulled down because raw materials are getting too expensive or because we are not increasing prices. We see all this very quickly in Power BI."

Finally, the use of Power BI has also already proved very beneficial in terms of communication with customers, as Tensio often compiles and delivers overviews from Power BI to their customers. They used to do this in Excel, but that was enormously cumbersome and time-consuming. Now there is less manual work and everything runs much more efficiently.
Commitment to AI
Like many companies, Tensio also wants to experiment in the future with intelligent products and machines and the link with Power BI. Such machines can detect errors, transmit data and sometimes even solve problems themselves. This all happens for the benefit of the customer, but without him noticing anything.
"We are now in the process of installing new, smart controllers at our customers. These controllers measure that customer's water and product consumption, for example. We log the data from those machines into a Microsoft Azure environment that we then visualize in Power BI. In this way, we can monitor our customers' consumption and anticipate this by, for example, sending out alarms in the event of a water leak, signaling possible defects, sending someone by for maintenance of the machine or automatically ordering additional product for that customer when the system sees that it is running low. This allows us to monitor our customers very well and support them even better in their processes. At the same time, we get to analyze all the data and thus optimize our own internal processes."
