In the food industry, hygiene is key. Areas, machines and components are therefore cleaned daily and even more frequently. This is often done with cleaning agents, which can attack materials such as cast iron or aluminum, for example. Anyone using motors made of such materials runs the risk of having to replace them in no time. Even a good enclosure and a protective epoxy coating do not always provide the necessary protection. That is why Euronorm Drive Systems, specialist in drive technology, has now developed electric motors and gearboxes in durable stainless steel, such as the JRES geared motors and the flange encoders of the JRSB series. Euronorm also delivers all products from stock in just two weeks and even faster in case of downtime.

Euronorm Drive Systems, headquartered in Sassenheim (NL), has for years been synonymous with quality, reliable drives and transmissions. The range includes the most diverse gearboxes (motor, worm, hypoid, planetary, heavy duty), but also electric motors, slewing drives, frequency inverters, slewing ring bearings and flange encoders. The company is a well-known player in the Netherlands, but for several years it has also been focusing strongly on the Belgian market. Thanks to a motivated team of knowledgeable employees, a perfectly fitting standard or custom-made drive system can be supplied for every application.

Motor gearboxes in stainless steel

"We don't introduce a new, innovative product every month; we put our focus on continuing to deliver quickly and reliably the solutions our customers need and in which we specialize. For example, we noticed that companies in the food industry were looking for a solution to the recurring problem of corrosion and water infiltration in conventional drives. In this sector, hygiene is crucial and frequent cleaning of rooms, machines and components is indispensable. Motors there were quickly affected by cleaning agents and sometimes had to be replaced after only a few months," says Jip Verbiest, sales engineer Belgium at Euronorm. "That's why we launched a full range of motor gearboxes in stainless steel. These are hermetically sealed (TENV, IP69K) and completely smooth, making this a reliable and durable solution. Downtime of the machinery is thus reduced to a minimum. Added bonus: the machines shine 'in their skin'."

Flange encoders in stainless steel

In addition to these stainless steel gearmotors of the JRES series, Euronorm's range now also includes the JRSB flange encoders in stainless steel. These fit seamlessly between IEC motors and their gearboxes. They register the correct position of the motor and communicate this data to the machine's control system. These flange encoders allow the company to offer the motor as a completely hermetically sealed and hygienic element. "We also supply these stainless steel encoders with 1,024 pulses/revolution, which means we can always offer a solution even for dynamic and demanding applications. Because the flanges are designed according to the IEC standard, the flange encoders can also be used on pumps and motors of other brands. This allows existing installations to be retrofitted if necessary," adds the sales engineer. "In almost all applications, they are combined with an IEC motor. For non-standard projects, our engineers can work out a customized solution."

Broad knowledge, quick action

At Euronorm, customers are at the center of attention. They can count on quality products, but above all on excellent technical support. "Our experienced team knows the market and the products inside out. We do not shy away from any challenge and even for the most complex applications we find an appropriate solution. We assist customers with technical support on products and for special applications they can call on our engineers to devise and calculate the right products or work out customized solutions. Via our online configurator, they can also select everything themselves to generate a price quotation, technical sheet, plan and 3D drawing," Verbiest concludes. "Our short delivery time is and remains perhaps the most important cornerstone of our success. Thanks to a large stock in the Netherlands, we can guarantee a delivery time of only two weeks, whereas with other suppliers one often has to wait eight weeks, and today even much longer. This is very convenient for those building new machines, but also for maintenance projects. On special request, even faster delivery is possible."
