ABB has appointed Joerg Theis as managing director of ABB's Machine Automation (B&R) division effective April 1, 2021. He succeeds Clemens Sager, who led the division ad interim since January 1, 2021.
Theis has 23 years of experience within ABB. He has in-depth knowledge of process and factory automation in consumer goods, pharmaceutical, food, hybrid and automotive industries, among others, with a focus on the development of digital services. He has worked and lived in Europe and Asia and most recently led the ABB Process Automation for Energy Industries division, based in Singapore, Asia. He will relocate from Singapore to B&R's headquarters in Eggelsberg, Austria.

Theis earned a degree in chemical engineering from FH Aachen, Germany. He is a German citizen, married and has two children.
