When explosion hazards exist, a company must take preventive measures for employee safety. Standards have been drawn up for this purpose. ATEX comes from the French words ATmosphere EXplosible from the European directives of explosion safety.
ASTRO Motorengesellschaft mbH & Co.KG has developed engines that meet the requirements laid down in the ATEX standard. These motors are suitable for environments where there is a risk of explosion due to dust or gas.
The official coding of the approved series engines is:
ATEX Directive 114 (2014/34/EU) for Category 2:
Zone 1 (gas): II 2 G Ex e IIC T4 Gb
Zone 21 (dust): II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T90°C Db
The motors can be fitted with a gearbox as required and are usually available quickly.
