Hygiene is at the forefront of everything ACO does. Not surprisingly, ACO will be present at the next Hygiene for Food event. In the Inspiration Village, ACO will present the Waste Stairs proposals. This is a new bulky waste filter for efficiently separating large amounts of waste.
In food production, certain amounts of organic waste (such as meat or vegetable leaves) or solids (such as labels, glass shards or bones) often fall to the floor. They can clog the conventional sludge basket in a very short time, requiring frequent maintenance. Indeed, if the water cannot drain, it causes delays in production, compromises work safety and greatly increases the risk of contamination.
The Waste Stairs does away with those blockages by trapping coarse debris before it lands in the drain. It was designed at the request of customers as an easy-to-handle filter basket. The product comes in two versions. The perforated version will be most efficient when waste needs to be separated from production. Think labels, broken glass or large pieces of organic waste. In contrast, the coarse waste filter with the sealed bottom will be most useful for small particles that do not float, such as microscopic glass shards.
The main raison d'être for the Waste Stairs is its ability to separate large amounts of waste quickly and efficiently. In addition, ACO designed its Waste Stairs with the highest possible hygiene in mind. The design therefore follows the principles of hygienic design, making it easier and faster to clean and maintain. A variant was also developed for already installed drains. This has the same performance characteristics in terms of hygiene and ease of use.
