The QL series of industrial wall cabinets from ILINOX® has many unique features compared to wall cabinets from other suppliers, especially for the food industry. One of the most important features is that ILINOX® wall cabinets are fully customizable to the customer's specific requirements and designs. For our customers in food production, some specific features of an industrial wall cabinet are essential, we list them for you.
The QL wall boxes from ILINOX® are characterized by their extremely good watertightness. The wall cabinets have an IP value of IP66 and IP69K. This makes these cabinets extremely suitable for the food industry. Upon request, the industrial wall cabinet can be provided with UL certification for the U.S. and Canadian markets. In this case, the wall cabinets meet the NEMA4X protection class. The wall cabinets can also be equipped with an additional external grounding point and ATEX certification if the cabinets need to be explosion-proof.
Most providers of industrial wall cabinets have cabinet doors with a single setting. This reduces stability and the risk of dirt and moisture accumulating between the setting. The space between the cabinet and the door is sometimes so large that you can even put a finger between them. This can result in the wall cabinet over time filling up with dirt and water through the door, causing it to start leaking. This can cause a costly HMI installed in the door to fail. Therefore, the industrial wall cabinets of the QL series have a double-set door and the space between the cabinet and the door is minimal. This prevents the accumulation of dirt and water.
The double setting also makes it impossible to hit the seal when high-pressure spraying the machines. In fact, the double setting creates a kind of labyrinth that breaks the water jet several times. This ensures the extremely good water tightness of the wall cabinet, namely IP66 and IP69K. This industrial wall cabinet is therefore ideal for the food industry where contamination is an important issue.
The doors of the QL series industrial wall cabinets have small cut-outs at the bottom for possible drainage. This allows any water or dirt that does end up in the edge of the door to drain easily. The cabinet itself has a flat upright edge. This upright flat edge closes against the seal. This prevents the seal from being cut into and causing leaks.
Within the QL series, as mentioned earlier, you have the choice of a stainless steel 304 or a stainless 316 wall cabinet. Stainless steel 316 is a higher quality stainless steel. This makes these wall cabinets very suitable for offshore applications, for example. This is because RVS 316 is more resistant to salty sea air so there is less chance of corrosion. In addition, these wall cabinets differ from each other by the seal used. A 316 stainless steel industrial wall cabinet has a silicone foam seal where the 304 wall cabinet has a polyurethane seal. This ensures that the industrial wall cabinets made of stainless steel 316 are overall of a higher quality.
To give you an idea of the difference between a silicone foam and polyurethane sealant it is important to note that both silicone and polyurethane contain small air bubbles. With polyurethane, these air bubbles are interconnected. If the hardened outer layer of the seal gets damaged, there is a chance that a sponge effect will occur. In this case, the entire seal will fill with water. This can lead to leaks. Damage does not occur simply by opening and closing the cabinet, but can occur if the seal comes into contact with sharp objects such as a knife or screwdriver..
The silicone foam seal also contains small air bubbles, but has a closed cell structure. As a result, the air bubbles are not connected to each other. If the hardened outer layer is damaged, the "leak" is limited to a single bubble. This prevents the seal from absorbing moisture. So basically, a silicone foam seal is a harder seal that is more resistant to damage. If the preference is for a stainless steel 304 industrial wall box, but combined with a silicone foam seal, this is of course also possible.
ILINOX® develops the hinges for its industrial wall cabinets entirely in-house. The QL wall cabinets are equipped with hinges cast entirely in stainless steel 316. With other suppliers, the hinges are often welded. This form of fastening causes the hinges to become much more fragile and can break off. ILINOX® has therefore chosen to fully screw the hinges.
The doors can be opened up to 120 degrees. When the wall cabinet is opened, the door protrudes slightly by default. Sometimes the industrial wall cabinet needs to be built in and this can cause the door to no longer open. In this case, the profile of the wall cabinet can be widened and a different hinge is used. This ensures that the door remains flush with the side of the cabinet when the door is opened. This allows the cabinet to be fully built into a machine and the doors to be opened normally.
A common problem is that often, when the wall cabinet is to be hung, holes are drilled in the cabinet. Many times people forget to seal these properly. As a result, the industrial wall cabinet loses its watertightness. ILINOX® wall cabinets therefore have special integrated mounting points on the back of the cabinet. Using the M6 blind plugs, the cabinet can be mounted on the wall. Here ILINOX® has special wall brackets designed for.
On the mounting points on the inside is a bolt to which the mounting plate can be attached. Many components are often attached to large mounting plates. This creates a lot of weight. With this system, the mounting plate is attached directly to the machine instead of to the cabinet. This provides more stability.
Good to know: ILINOX® industrial wall cabinets come standard with a galvanized mounting plate. You do not need to order this as an extra. If you prefer a stainless steel mounting plate? Then you can order these separately.
QL series industrial wall cabinets are fully customizable. This makes it possible to choose the same finish for the wall cabinet as the rest of the machine. By default, the wall cabinets have a Scotch Brite brush finish, but another finish is also possible. For example, the wall cabinet can be sanded coarser if you want to paint or coat the cabinet afterwards, but electrolytic polishing or glass bead blasting is also possible. The wall cabinets from the QL series can also be STAINLESS STEEL 304 as 316 STAINLESS STEEL be made.
The great advantage of the QL series industrial wall cabinets is that they are available in a wide range of standard sizes. With the QLP Series wall cabinets, ILINOX® even offers industrial wall cabinets with a depth of 400mm. Should it still happen that the desired size is not among them, the wall cabinets can be made to measure down to the millimeter. This while the wall cabinet retains all the aforementioned features.
In addition to custom-made wall cabinets, customization can also involve adding cutouts to the wall cabinet. This may be necessary, for example, when the wall cabinet needs to be fitted with a HMI, push button, connector or cable entry. Depending on the components which are then used in the industrial wall cabinet, the IP ratings may be dropped. For example, if you use components that are IP69K sealed, then the wall cabinet will retain its IP ratings. If you use a cable entry with IP66 sealing, then the wall cabinet is only IP66 sealed. This is because the wall cabinet retains the IP value of the weakest link.
The machining can be done before the cabinet is produced or afterwards with a 3D laser machine which can provide standard stock cabinets with the desired cutouts. The delivery time of a machined standard cabinet is about 2 weeks. We apply a low and transparent rate for the machining with the 3D laser.
