Terminal boxes are used to connect and branch cables. A terminal box usually contains terminal strips or small decentralized electrical components.
Pushbutton cabinets give you the ability to control machines decentrally. In the push button cabinets, the push buttons or piezo switches are mounted and protected from moisture and dirt. For hygienic areas, such as in the food industry, correct mounting of cabling and control points is extra important. CC Netherlands offers a wide range of pushbutton and terminal boxes of the ILINOX brand with hygienic design. Below you can read about the importance of hygienic sealing and how ILINOX cabinets meet this requirement.
In areas where hygiene is especially important, a number of concerns exist for pushbutton and terminal cabinets. Hygienic design is also mandatory if the cabinet is located directly above food products. Are you selecting a terminal or pushbutton cabinet for a similar application? If so, consider the following features:
To meet the above criteria, ILINOX has developed a special line with a hygienic design. Read all about the benefits of these push button and terminal boxes below.
A silicone seal prevents dirt and moisture from entering the enclosure and affecting electricity. ILINOX enclosures comply with the EHEDG standard. EHEDG stands for European Hygienic Engineering Design Group and provides standards for hygienic design. The blue signal color is an important criteria for this standard, because blue is easier to trace between food products and no organic product exists in the color blue. The silicone seal is resistant to the most common cleaning agents in the food industry.
Water - in addition to cleaning agents - is used during cleaning. The material of the terminal and push button boxes is made entirely of 316L-RVS to prevent corrosion. In the food sector, it is additionally important that surfaces do not retain dirt. Therefore, the surface roughness of ILINOX cabinets is kept as low as possible; the surface roughness is less than 0.28 micrometers. This makes dirt less likely to adhere and the surface easier to clean.
Water, dust and dirt can corrode the housing and are unsanitary if they remain in seams and corners of housing. To prevent this, high dust and water resistance is desirable. The IP rating indicates the extent to which the enclosure is resistant to water and dust. The ILINOX enclosures have the high IP values of IP66 and IP69K, making them resistant to high-pressure spraying at close range with hot water. The raised edge of the ILINOX boxes fix the silicone seal. This keeps the seal in position even during high-pressure cleaning. The lids of the cabinets are sloped ten degrees, which facilitates dirt and water drainage.
To secure the lid, special screw bolts made of AISI316L stainless steel are used. Due to the blue silicone sealing ring and the hexagonal design of the screw bolt, it is impossible for dirt to be left behind. The spacer provided ensures that the lid is always tightened with the correct force.
The only difference between pushbutton boxes and terminal boxes is the cutout in the lid of the pushbutton box. The lid has one or more round recesses with two lugs where the standardized pushbuttons fit exactly. Is a rotary switch mounted instead of a push button? Then the two (anti-rotation) cams ensure that only the switch turns with it.
