Increasing complexity requires specialized knowledge and experience

Machines and systems are becoming increasingly complex due to automation and digitalization, while the shortage of technicians is growing. For this reason, machine builders are more often in need of specialist knowledge from suppliers, for example when selecting the right drive elements. Groschopp is responding to this with the goal of realizing successful solutions together with the customer. Groschopp Drives & More focuses strongly on consultiv services in addition to offering motors, gearboxes and servo technology.

Since 2001, Groschopp Drives & More BV, as the exclusive representative for the Benelux, has been supplying drive products from the Groschopp factory in Germany directly to its customers. "This close cooperation offers many advantages," says director Cock den Uijl. "For example, we can quickly and easily supply from our own stock virtually any combination of motor and gearbox, where necessary combined with the right controller."

Configurator

To serve its customers even better, the search engine or configurator on the website was recently expanded and improved. "Among other things, we added the stainless steel parameter. We see a growing need for stainless steel or a coating that prevents rusting, especially in the food and medical industries. We therefore have stainless steel (servo) motors and gearboxes in our range that meet the strict laws and regulations of the food sector. These are now also easy to find via the configurator."

Over 60,000 combinations

The advanced configurator developed in-house by Groschopp helps machine builders make the initial selection. This is possible by entering various parameters. Think of speed, torque and/or power but also the preference for a specific mounting position. "This makes it possible to quickly find a combination of motor and gearbox from a database of over 60,000 combinations. The resulting speeds and torques are clearly displayed on the website, allowing a selection to be made quickly. Dimension drawings, step files and technical data can then be downloaded as required. But if additional advice and expertise is required, we are of course happy to provide it," says Den Uijl.

Consultiv services

Not for nothing does Groschopp Drives & More bet heavily on consultiv services. "We receive more and more knowledge questions in recent years. Which product offers the best value for money for my application? Which drive is most suitable for my machine? What do I need for a machine that produces cookies? What is the ideal speed at which I can process products in order to ensure a long life for my machine? This is just some of the wide variety of questions companies come to us with. Our employees have a great deal of knowledge and experience and are keen to support companies in their search for the best solution. We have therefore consciously placed advice and support in the service 'consultiv service'."

Out of the box

"When it comes to drive technology, companies know where to find us easily," continues director Rob den Uijl. "With the 'more' of Drives & More, we deliberately indicate that we do more than supply products. In our new service, we not only share our knowledge, skill and experience, but we also dare - if the situation requires it - to deviate from the beaten path and discover new ways. For example, sometimes space is at a premium or "out of the box" thinking is necessary to find a solution to a specific situation. By letting us think along at an early stage of the design process, we can come up with better solutions together with our clients. And should we not come up with a solution together? Then we can immediately call in the factory in Germany as a helpline. A backup with additional knowledge and experience is right at our fingertips."
