In the food industry, food pumps play an essential role in processing and transporting food. After all, they ensure that food can be pumped smoothly and safely between, for example, storage tanks and processing lines. Since 2006, NETZSCH Pumps Netherlands has supplied various pump applications, each offering specific advantages. In this article, the manufacturer highlights four food pump series.
In practice, food pumps are used to move liquid, pasty or viscous food products from one location to another, such as from storage tanks to processing lines and from production lines to packaging machines. The use of this technology offers numerous benefits to companies in the food industry.
First, food pumps ensure efficient and fast food processing, resulting in increased productivity and cost savings. In addition, they guarantee accurate dosing of ingredients, which has a positive impact on the consistency and quality of the final product. Another advantage of food pumps is that they are hygienic and safe for use in the food industry. Indeed, these applications are designed to meet the industry's strict hygiene standards and guidelines. This prevents food products from being contaminated with bacteria and other contaminants. Finally, food pumps contribute to a more sustainable food industry. By using energy and raw materials efficiently and reducing waste streams, they can help reduce the industry's carbon footprint.
With a production of more than 66,000 food pumps per year, NETZSCH Pumps & Systems has been underlining its worldwide market leadership in technology for many years. On the Dutch market, NETZSCH Pumps Netherlands has been the trusted supplier for numerous companies in the food sector since 2006. It does this with a range of four high-performance food pump series: the NEMO® eccentric screw pump, NOTOS® screw spindle pump, TORNADO® lobe pump and the PERIPRO® peristaltic pump.
NETZCH's NEMO® screw pumps are used for conveying and dosing various liquids. These pumps are suitable for pumping water-thin products to highly viscous pastes or slurries. These positive displacement pumps are available in various material designs from cast iron and stainless steel to special chemically resistant materials. Thanks to a speed control, the output is easily adjustable. In addition, these pumps are suitable for use in explosive environments.
NETZSCH's NOTOS® screw spindle pumps are positive displacement pumps. These low-noise screw pumps with hydrodynamic bearings are used for pumping and dosing various liquids with lubricating and non-lubricating properties, low to high viscosity and sometimes also for abrasive liquids or fragile media. Thanks to low pulsations, these pumps provide continuous output, with low life cycle costs in addition. The food version is EHEDG- and 3A-certified.
With the TORNADO® lobe pumps, NETZSCH offers positive displacement pumps that are used for conveying and dosing various liquids. This series is equipped with a toothed belt transmission, instead of a maintenance-intensive gear transmission. This ensures a compact design of the pump. The lobes of this pump are made of stainless steel with a rubber inlay and the pump housing is lined internally with rubber. As a result, only rubber and metal come into contact during rotation. The stainless steel version for the food industry is both EHEDG and 3A approved.
PERIPRO® peristaltic pumps are designed and manufactured to solve a wide range of very demanding applications. The 'heavy duty' construction includes extremely heavily designed XXL rollers and the latest generation of longer life hoses. In addition, quick and easy assembly, commissioning and maintenance significantly reduce downtime and dramatically improve operating costs.
