The complete range of MAXXDRIVE® parallel and right-angle gear units from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS offers high output torques from 15 to 280 kNm in 11 sizes. As an extension to this proven standard series, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS now offers the new MAXXDRIVE® XT series of right-angle gear units in thermally optimized design in seven sizes from 15 to 75 kNm.

The high-performance MAXXDRIVE® range of industrial gear units based on the NORD modular system covers all industrial application areas up to 280 kNm.

MAXXDRIVE® industrial gearboxes are used when high output torques and power ratings are required. In combination with the right accessories, MAXXDRIVE® offers a technically and economically perfect drive solution for every project.

The extensive configuration and assembly possibilities of the MAXXDRIVE® industrial gearbox enable both standard and customized drive solutions. For example, the combination of motor, gearbox, coupling and brake system results in precisely planned complete units delivered ready for operation, mounted on a motor base or frame. Alternatively, the motor can also be mounted by means of an IEC/NEMA adapter .

The wide variety of available flange fastenings and shaft designs allows for optimum adaptation to the customer's application. The mechanical and thermal design of all NORD industrial gear units is always based on the existing operating data of the application and on the environmental conditions on site. Thus, the MAXXDRIVE® program ensures maximum individualization and creates drive systems that meet the highest demands for reliability and long service life.

Multitude of options for custom applications

Typical MAXXDRIVE® applications are conveyor belt drives, consisting of an electric motor, a clutch and an industrial gearbox with axial fan. The primary focus here is on sufficient heat dissipation to enable the highest thermal powers. The new MAXXDRIVE® XT industrial gearboxes, with their heavily ribbed housings, are ideally suited for this purpose. The power and speed ranges of these two-stage right-angle gear units were specially developed for applications requiring small gear ratios combined with high power. The output torques of the MAXXDRIVE® XT series range from 15 to 75 kNm at gear ratios from 6.3 to 22.4. MAXXDRIVE® XT industrial gearboxes are available in seven sizes for power ratings from 50 to 1,500 kW. 

Another typical application for NORD's high-performance industrial gear units are drives for mixing and stirring processes. By equipping the compact and robust MAXXDRIVE® industrial gear unit with reinforced bearing and flange versions (VL2/KL2 - VL6/KL6), the drive can be optimally adapted to shaft loads. Sealless IEC/NEMA adapters (SAFOMI) and a TRUE DRYWELL seal on the output shaft ensure the highest possible operational reliability. The complete drive system - from NORD electric motors to flange connections - is supplied as a ready-to-install unit that can be mounted effortlessly on the application.

Networked maintenance concepts

NORD also supplies innovative predictive maintenance concepts specially developed for MAXXDRIVE® industrial gear units. The NORD frequency inverter is an essential component here. The status data available in the inverter can be transmitted to a higher control level or directly to a secure cloud. The inverter can also record external sensor data for monitoring vibrations or for measuring the temperature in the oil bath. Changes in system condition can be detected at an early stage (condition monitoring) and predictive maintenance can be scheduled in good time.
