Entrepreneurship is seeing opportunities. That is what typifies Callewaert Industries. The West-Flemish company started out of manager Curd Callewaert's passion for mechanics. He put his technical skills at the service of construction and maintenance work for companies. Word-of-mouth advertising did the rest. Gradually, additional activities were added with only one goal in mind: to relieve the customer as much as possible. A one-stop shop for all your needs, from technology to technical personnel.
Callewaert Industries exists today for more than twenty years. A story of technology, but above all a story of people, because Curd Callewaert transfers his passion to his employees. There are now more than 150 of them. The showcase of the company, because they have to live up to the high quality standards in the field. Today the activities are spread over seven business units: piping & insulation, construction & engineering, technical support (outsourcing), Ozyx (turning and milling), VPAQ pumps, Equagaz (grid infrastructure and charging stations) and Forzametal (sheet metal working). "We have always continued to grow from specific customer requests. Whether we couldn't also help them with another job or project. The result is actually a story of synergy. Between divisions, between employees, from which our customers benefit. Three quarters of our customers now use several of our services," says Annick Rommel who heads the Technical Support division.
A good example of how everything can come together was the realization of the complete move of the Jules Destrooper production in Lo to Ypres for which Callewaert Industries signed on. "Thanks to our broad experience, we, all divisions together, were able to put our shoulders to the wheel on this, so that the customer had one point of contact enough to follow up the entire project. Communication is crucial in projects of this size. Making clear agreements and putting them into practice is what it's all about," says Rommel. As said, quality is paramount in the work Callewaert Industries wants to deliver. No hollow words; for example, for work in stainless steel, the company with headquarters in Zwevezele has a separate workshop. It is also committed to obtaining the necessary certifications to prove it. Rommel: "VCA, EN1090-2, ISO38-34 ... for customers, these certificates mean real added value, because they indicate that we will ensure that everything is delivered and finished down to the last detail. That is what we as a company stand for in everything we do. Service at the service of the customer. Quality with respect for deadlines. A reputation we want to uphold by always keeping a close eye on every project."
And so that starts with the employees. "Motivation makes a world of difference. We therefore try to stimulate our employees as much as possible to develop themselves. After all, technical knowledge and know-how still make the difference today. Anyone with ambitions to learn a new skill can go to the production workshops, where we organize specific training courses, for example to obtain certain certificates," Rommel points out. "In addition, we make sure that they receive high-quality material so that they can also deliver high-quality work. After all, a satisfied customer is our best possible advertisement." In doing so, Callewaert Industries does not shy away from investment. For example, a cobot is on the way to load and unload the turning and milling machines. "But the human aspect still prevails in everything we do. In the relationship with customers, partners and employees. To put it with a West Flemish word, we want our people to 'jeunen' themselves, to feel passion in what they do and turn that into quality work," Rommel concludes.
