ZLW lightweight layer gripper: slim and light for the cobot.

With the new ZLW layer gripper, cobots can also palletize lighter workpiece layers. It is not only slim and light but also efficient. The suction grid, gripper dimensions and all other components are optimally matched to the handling task and thus minimize the power required for the vacuum to be generated.

The new ZLW gripper has a slim design and is special and suitable for palletizing with cobots. Depending on the model and manufacturer, lightweight robots have a payload of up to 30 kilograms. To be able to use them for layer palletizing and depalletizing, this layer gripper has followed a diet. The result is a lightweight gripper that can lift up to 30 kilograms and - depending on its size - weighs only between 4 and less than 15 kilograms. This gives the robot enough power for the actual handling task.

The ZLW gripper can simultaneously grip multiple open, hollow or closed objects such as glasses, cans or cardboard boxes of different sizes. It compensates for height differences in the workpiece layer with an optionally available spring-loaded flange. The gripper is individually configured; the user receives an efficient complete system with components that are matched both to each other and to the task at hand. The vacuum generator is dimensioned so that it does not use more power than is necessary for process reliability. In addition, the new ZLW gripper indirectly helps to reduce the carbon footprint: smaller robots consume less power and thus support sustainable automation.

The slim gripper can be fitted with individual suction cups or sealing foam.
