Ideal partner in production

The main features of the CRX-10iA robot are safety, ease of use and extremely high reliability. Among other things, FANUC's R&D engineers have paid great attention to the safety of this lightweight collaborative robot. The CRX-10iA stops moving at the slightest contact with humans. If it encounters a hard object, the robot automatically reverses. Operators can also manually push three axes away from the robot. The robot's smooth and elegant design also provides protection against pinching, making it an ideal partner for production workers. The CRX-10iA is certified to the ISO 10218-1 safety standard.

SPEED DEPENDING ON THE MODE

To make the cobot as flexible as possible, it can operate both in cooperative mode with a maximum speed of 1,000 millimeters per second and in stand-alone mode with speeds of up to 2,000 millimeters per second. Mode switching is useful at night or on weekends, for example, when the robot can perform tasks alone without people around. A green/red light on the robot indicates the active mode. Additional safety sensors can be used to slow the speed down to the allowed speed if a person comes within range.

The ease of use of the CRX-10iA starts with installation. The robot, which weighs only 40 kg, and the 20 kg controller can be easily transported and installed manually to the point of use. The new, intuitive touch panel has a clear user interface with graphic symbols, and programming is possible using the "drag and drop" function. Thus, even novice operators can create work programs in simple steps. To teach the robot the desired movement sequence, the operator can also guide the robot manually to the appropriate points.

The operator can change the interface to display a traditional Teach Pendant at the touch of a button or can choose to connect an iPendant to the CRX-10iA. The Teach Pendant mode and iPendant enable even complex programming.

REGULAR SOFTWARE UPDATES

Another new feature is that customers can perform CRX-10iA software updates themselves, expanding the capabilities of the cobot through various application updates. To customize grippers, sensors or cameras, FANUC provides software development kits to quickly and easily connect to third-party accessories.

The CRX-10iA also meets the highest quality standards in terms of reliability. For example, it meets the demanding industrial standard IP67, which allows machines to be loaded and unloaded in humid environments. Even very fine dust particles, such as in polishing applications, are not a problem. The controller and tablet are designed to meet industrial standard IP54 and are therefore also excellent for industrial production environments.

LONG-TERM USE, MAINTENANCE-FREE

The longevity of the CRX-10iA is particularly impressive. The CRX is designed to run an average of up to eight years without maintenance. Within that time, motors, reducers, sensors, cables and lubricants usually do not need to be replaced if used properly. For customers, this means both a very low total cost of ownership (TCO) and minimal downtime in production. Should a mishandling issue still require a repair, parts can be replaced thanks to an easily removable cover.

FANUC will provide the same comprehensive customer support for the CRX as it does for all its traditional yellow robots. Two of the company's key principles are "lifetime maintenance" and "service first." This means that FANUC has plenty of spare parts in stock, even of discontinued products, and will continue to provide service for all of its products for as long as customers continue to use them. FANUC maintains an extensive service and support network worldwide with 264 branches in 108 countries.

The CRX-10iA is available in two versions: a standard model with a reach of 1249 millimeters and a long-arm model with a reach of 1418 millimeters. The long-arm robot is designed to swing its arm directly over the base. This allows it, for example, to pick up parts from a table in front of it and place them on the table behind it in a straight-line motion. In addition to palletizing operations, the CRX-10iA is ideally suited for automating operations applied in the food & beverage industry.
