B&R's integrated machine vision portfolio now features a Smart Camera that combines multiple machine vision functions in real time. This makes the implementation of sequential process-driven functions easy, whereas it would be costly and time-consuming with conventional cameras.
On a machine that simultaneously produces multiple variants of a product, only one image from the Smart Camera is sufficient to determine the variant of the product and check the printed label. This function provides the necessary information for the next task. Because the machine control process variables are seamlessly integrated into these processes, decisions can be made in real time. Sequential image processing functions can be expanded almost indefinitely.
The developer easily connects the individual image processing functions in a visual editor. Time-consuming programming is no longer necessary. Thanks to full integration into the B&R system, it takes only minutes to set up and synchronize even complex tasks, such as picking and sorting products into boxes on a moving conveyor belt.
B&R's Smart Camera has the same hardware options as the B&R Smart Sensor. Several integrated lenses and housing versions with a standard C-mount are available. Other options include integrated lighting options, FPGA image preprocessing and image sensors from 1.3 to 5.3 megapixels.
