Manufacturing or logistics, customized ventilation system is indispensable

Over the years, Limoco has already developed several custom ventilation systems for the food industry. This may be for the removal of heat, fumes, dust, odor or other annoying environmental factors. The extensive and polyvalent knowledge that Limoco has in-house is often the basis for a long-term customer relationship, such as that with Katoen Natie, one of the biggest names in the logistics sector in Belgium.

A great example of such a custom project can be found at Katoen Natie Food & Feed in Kallo.

Dust extraction transfer milk powder

Big bags of milk powder that arrive via containers are opened and discharged into bulk trucks. To extract the dust released during this operation, Limoco developed and installed an extraction system with 3 extraction points and additional features.

• 2 fixed extraction points at the big bags
• a third "mobile" extraction point
• a connection for a cleaning flex so that powder can also be sucked up at the bottom of the trucks
• 2 polishing flexibles in the working zone

Adaptations for specific conditions

In working out the solution, a number of specific circumstances had to be taken into account:

• The plant is fully "food grade" engineered.
• Milk powder is an explosive substance. The entire installation was therefore ATEX compliant and equipped with a rupture disk with flame arrestor.
• All pipes are manufactured in stainless steel.
• With a Hepa filter, we avoid contamination.
• The room is kept in overpressure so that no contamination can enter from outside.
• Due to the limited height of 2.20 m where the installation had to be fitted, specific customization was required. Thanks to Limoco's special expertise in this area, we were able to develop a solution that fully met the wishes and needs of this client.
