On December 1 and 2, Mikrocentrum and Vakblad EVMI (Alea Publishers), are organizing Food Technology 2021 in the Brabanthallen, 's-Hertogenbosch. During Food Technology 2021, food and high-tech will come together with the aim of moving the food industry towards 2050. With three months to go, the conference program, called Food meets hightech, is firmly on the rise. According to Roeland Dobbelaer, program director and publisher of EVMI, a broad program has been chosen around 5 sub-themes: "We want to highlight both the side of food production with themes such as food innovation, food safety and sustainable chain, as well as the more technical side around mechanical engineering, automation and lab research. For the latter, there are the themes Factory of the Future and Foodlab."
National and international speakers will shine their light on the food production of the future on December 1 and 2. Dobbelaer: "The overarching theme had to be sustainability, of course. We have no choice but to work hard to ensure that the climate goals are met, which requires major efforts, especially from the food industry."
Food Technology organizers work with a large number of knowledge partners who provide seminars from their areas of work. Examples include Keep Food Simple, IffI, NVC, Knowledge Platform Lab Managers and HDN. Speakers from the banking sector (ING) and from communication agencies (Schuttelaar & Partners) will also give advice on sustainable business practices in the food industry for the coming decades.
Both conference days will be kicked off by two renowned keynote speakers. On Wednesday, Dec. 1, Prof. Dr. Remko Boom, Professor of Food Process Engineering WUR, presents a new way of looking at ingredients. On Thursday, Dec. 2, Prof. Dr. Jaap Seidell, Professor of Nutrition and Health VU, makes a case for a food transition in the food industry. He believes the way food is made is due for a major change: healthier and more sustainable.
The organization of Food Technology is in the hands of Mikrocentrum and trade magazine EVMI. The organization expects over 2000 visitors from the world of the food industry, supply chain, high-tech and manufacturing industry, researcher and science. Food Technology is, after registering via the website, free of charge. There is still room for companies and organizations to present themselves at Food Technology.
