Evonik's methionine plant in Antwerp produces about 260,000 tons of methionine per year. Methionine is an essential amino acid used in animal feed, among other things. To reduce marking problems caused by human error, Evonik chose a solution from Markem-Imaje. "We have had a good relationship with Markem-Imaje for at least fifteen years," says Jean Van der Vreken plant engineer at Evonik. "We contacted them to help us because we knew they could build what we needed."
Evonik's methionine facility in Antwerp aimed to increase coding reliability through automated data transfer. It therefore chose a state-of-the-art Markem-Imaje encoding solution with CoLOS software.
The solution of Markem-Imaje is connected to the in-house ERP software from Evonik and enables automatic generation of print data to line coders. The system has led to a significant reduction in errors while providing each bag with traceable information.
