A connecting experience from industrial design to manufacturing

Industrialfairs, organizer of 5 Belgian technology fairs, together with powering partners Agoria and Howest Industrial Design Center, has teamed up for a complete makeover of the networking fair Prototyping-MNE.

Prototyping-MNE was anno 2020 the trade show combo, which emerged from the Machineering Network Event (manufacturing technology) and Prototyping (industrial design and prototyping) trade shows. The complementarity existed partly before when both events were organized separately, and during the previous combi edition, the exhibitors and organization became well aware of possible additional synergy for the future.

This edition reaffirmed that the exponential shift to Industry 4.0 and digitization is, at breakneck speed, transforming all business units (formerly standalone and often poorly communicating silos) of a future-oriented manufacturing organization into 1 interactive and agile ecosystem. Tomorrow's customer wants to do business with manufacturing companies that deploy strongly online and enable rapid design configuration and ordering, with short time-to-market, well-organized supply chains and flexible inventories.

In short, the new value chain of the smart manufacturing company requires dynamic and digital integration of all relevant processes combined with the use of innovative manufacturing and design technologies. Departments such as design, engineering, prototyping, planning, maintenance, manufacturing, supply-chain, assembly, logistics, sales and after-sales become one interactive platform of people and technologies. New technology such as generative design, additive manufacturing, connected and AI-driven production machines, predictive maintenance etc. are therefore increasingly finding adaptation in all layers of industry.
