For different types of bulk goods, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS offers suitable drives for conveyors, elevators and other conveying systems
Whether it is sand, coal or foodstuffs, such as grain or sugar - a fairly large proportion of goods transported by road, water and rail are bulk goods. This wide range of different materials reflects the diverse requirements placed on drive systems when transporting bulk goods.
"Our Industry Sector Management has extensive knowledge of bulk material handling and an excellent understanding of industry requirements," explains Jörg Niermann, Head of Marketing at NORD. The drive specialist supplies customized drive systems for transport systems such as conveyors, elevators and screw conveyors. "Our product range includes very robust systems for applications under harsh environmental conditions, in addition to explosion-proof and highly hygienic drive systems."
To tailor systems for all applications, industry specialists use the extensive modular system from NORD. It includes components, such as frequency converters, motors, gearboxes, couplings and brakes, in addition to fans, frames and backstops, which are individually matched. For many applications, a gearbox from the MAXXDRIVE® series of industrial gearboxes forms the basis. These gear units, which are primarily installed in one-piece UNICASE housings, are available in eleven sizes with torques of up to 282,000 Nm.
For the bulk material industry, NORD developed the MAXXDRIVE® XT industrial gear unit. The power and speed range of this optimized two-stage right-angle gearbox is designed specifically for applications requiring small gear ratios combined with high power. The robust construction makes the MAXXDRIVE® XT dirt-resistant and reliable under harsh operating conditions. A special sealing concept reduces maintenance. Large roller bearings and center distances increase load capacity and extend component life.
NORD geared motors, which are optimized in terms of energy efficiency, are used for smaller-scale applications.
