From potato processing to beer filtration: in the food and beverage industry, every link counts. Those looking for a hygienic, reliable and high-performance pump solution often end up at Packo Pumps. With over fifty years of experience, thorough testing and a broad portfolio that meets the needs of industry, food and pharma, the manufacturer is a fixture.
Since 1975, Packo - part of Verder Liquids - has been designing and building stainless steel pumps that are among the world's top in terms of hygiene and cleanability. This has everything to do with innovativeness, reliability and extra services. Under the motto "enabling progress," the company diversifies enormously, making technological progress possible for its customers.
Kenneth Demeulemeester, product manager at Verder Liquids: "Many of our customers come to us because they need a pump that prevents product damage and guarantees maximum hygiene. Pumping potatoes without damage? That requires a pump with low shear force. In addition, hygienic design is in our DNA: we apply electropolishing as standard, a technique that ensures an ultra-clean, smooth and easy-to-clean surface. Our pumps are designed to handle delicate products without loss of quality. Furthermore, we distinguish ourselves with extensive testing before a pump is effectively deployed at the customer's site."
Packo responds to sector- and company-specific needs. Think of potato processing - transporting, washing and even cutting via pump solutions - or breweries upgrading their cast iron systems to stainless steel. With 3A certifications, its pumps meet the strictest standards in "food & beverage.
Innovation is not an empty concept here, as seen by the further expansion of the range and recent investments in technologies such as energy-efficient motors and intelligent pump controls that improve the efficiency and durability of the pumps. Recently Packo developed a centrifugal pump with a flow rate of up to 1,800 m³/h, interesting for large breweries and filtration applications. The combination of hygienic design and powerful performance makes this model unique of its kind. In addition, there is the circular story. "95% of our pumps are made of recyclable metals such as copper and stainless steel. We are already thinking today about how a pump can re-create value at the end of its life cycle. Each pump will soon have its own passport, ready for the future and recycling," says Demeulemeester.
The portfolio is as diverse as the customers the leading manufacturer works for. First and foremost, these include standard pumps, air-operated or CIP return pumps and pumps for specific applications. "These three types we can provide in different finishing grades to meet the needs of industry, food and pharma," said Demeulemeester. "Furthermore, there are niche markets that we serve with a range of specialized pumps. In addition to our well-known centrifugal pumps, these include shearmixers, lobe pumps and twin screw pumps, each with their own strengths. The twin screw pumps are ideal for the combination of high viscosity product transfer and additionally aqueous products such as CIP. The shearmixers are perfect for inline mixing, homogenizing and dispersing such as in the beverage and dairy industries."
The best pump for every need is how Packo helps customers move forward. The company goes one step further by offering the advanced selection software Capdata to optimize processes, pump performance and maintenance. "Through this powerful tool you have access to all technical info linked to a pump in question. Certificates, manuals, curves ... useful to adjust efficiency and to plan maintenance proactively," concludes Demeulemeester.
