Exactly 150 years ago Netzsch pumps was founded. A good time to look back briefly, but then above all to look to the future. After all, the food industry - one of the many sectors the company serves - is developing rapidly and thus constantly requires new pump solutions for, among other things, the conveyance of slurries and dry matter. This is right up the street with the enthusiastic developers at Netzsch.
Very briefly: when brothers Thomas and Christian Netzsch started a business in the ceramic sector in 1873, neither of them could have imagined that from this would emerge the Netzsch Group. A company that in 2023 with 3,500 employees in 130 sales and production centers in 23 countries is active in the production, sale and maintenance of pumps.
A special company also because - despite its global coverage - it has chosen to bring production to the local market. Simply to save on transport and logistics costs but above all to be able to respond to regional needs. Also, all spare parts are produced in-house and are available from stock, giving the user every opportunity to guarantee the quality of its pumps.
The focus on pumps arose when Erich Netzsch acquired the rights to use the principle of the eccentric screw pump from the developer shortly after World War II. It turned out to be the beginning of an impressive number of technical developments that led, among other things, to the Nemo® eccentric screw pumps, Tornado® lobe pumps, Notos® screw spindle pumps, Netzsch macerators and Peripro® peristaltic pumps. Some of these pumps are ideally suited for use in the food industry. For example, the Tornado lobe pump is oil-free because the gears have been replaced by a toothed belt. The screw spindle pumps have also been further developed in accordance with the requirements for hygienic pumps, which also applies to the screw pumps. Finally, the peristaltic pumps have long been used to convey fragile foodstuffs in a controlled manner.
Netzsch pumps gladly develops for the food industry, simply because it is a dynamic and also very varied sector. There is a diversity of foodstuffs that all have their own requirements when it comes to pumping. After all, it's quite a difference whether it's conveying chicken nuggets, sticky low-viscosity strawberry syrup, high-viscosity vegetable pulp or yogurt with fragile pieces of mango. Related processes also require special pumps. For example, dosing pumps that add dyes or flavorings with high accuracy. But above all, the food industry is constantly evolving. Among other things, the global food shortage is forcing producers to deal with valuable foodstuffs differently and more efficiently. This leads, among other things, to working with slurries and dry substances that are, of course, transported via pumps. There is also a trend to purify process and waste water in one's own company for which Netzsch supplies an increasing number of worm pumps.
Thereby, the food industry not only benefits from the fact that Netzsch has its own R&D department, but also has knowledge of a diversity of sectors. This enables maximum cross-pollination to quickly arrive at an optimal solution for specific issues from the food industry. Issues tackled by the employees, with a large dose of knowledge and experience and complemented by a rare enthusiasm to take on new challenges.
