ZOUTMAN is the global benchmark for high-quality table salt. ZOUTMAN works exclusively with sea salt, which is by far the most environmentally friendly type of salt. Extracting salt from the sea results in CO2 emissions up to 31 times lower than those associated with salt extracted from mines, such as rock salt and vacuum salt. The company aims to initiate a sustainable transition from mined salt to sea salt. In addition to salt for the food industry (MARSEL®), ZOUTMAN also produces eco-friendly sea salt for water treatment (SOFT-SEL®), de-icing (SAFE ROAD SALT), and animal feed (SALCO AGRO). The company operates Europe’s largest covered salt terminal at North Sea Port (Ghent) and ships up to 450,000 metric tons of salt annually to more than 60 countries.
