Teleson in the Netherlands has been around since '73. "In the early days we acted mainly as the Dutch representative for Honeywell MICROSWITCH™. Over the years, however, we started to focus more and more on sensors and safety switches. Not by offering 101 brands, but by specifically choosing partners who are strong in what they do and bring a lot of added value," explains Managing Director Ralf de Hamer. He took over the helm of Teleson from his father in 2012.
A good example of that partner philosophy is IDEM Safety Switches, a name that by now rings like a bell in the world of stainless steel safety switches. De Hamer: "The founder, Medi Mohtasham, former R&D director at Allan Bradley, was a friend of my father. When he launched his own products and production in 2003, my father knew immediately that they would create a furor. Because engineering is always at the heart of Mohtasham. He just wants to do better, keep innovating and offer quality at a fair price. His choice of stainless steel and all the advantages it offers, at a time when plastic and cast steel were still the standard, proves that."
For de Hamer, that's exactly where the strength of a family business like Teleson and IDEM Safety Switches lies. "You go the extra mile for your customers. We really start from their application, their machine and how we can best help them with that. And we also try to take away all supply chain worries for them, for example by having products ready on demand in our stock. That mentality also applies to the partners we work with. They really think along with us and our customers about technical issues, even if then somewhere an adjustment to the standard is needed."
With that attitude and with technically strong solutions, Teleson aims to become the market leader in stainless steel safety switches. "We are not yet the biggest, but we can challenge the market quite well. In the Netherlands we are now succeeding well. We are growing year after year as more and more machine builders and food companies discover our products and service. A winning combination that we now also want to make known to Belgian customers," de Hamer concludes.
